Hello,
My name is Hunter Malloy, I am from Wallkill, New York, where I was born and raised. My hobbies include watching films, filmmaking, photography, some gaming, and poker. I am currently on my 3rd semester at SUNY Ulster, where I am a Communications major. Technically, my concentration is in “General Media”, but my personal goal and focus is to work in the field of film production.

Many people who are in a similar position as me have a plan for the years after community college. I do not as of right now. I may decide to pursue 2 more years of college and get my bachelor’s in Media Production, most likely at SUNY New Paltz. However, as of right now I need some time off from school. I hope to move out of this state in the next few years, hopefully going south or west. My chosen career path doesn’t change much with these plans. Either I further my education or I try to network with those in my field and create content of my own.
Web-based communication has been around my entire life so it is hard to pin down what was my first experience. My best guess is that it was some kind of AOL Instant Messager to message family members. I have made friends through web-based communication platforms, mostly through video game platforms. I have befriended people who live across the country, as well as connected with people I went to school with who I didn’t see much in actual school.
One of my favorite platforms I use frequently is called Letterboxd. It is a website and platform for people who watch a lot of films to log, journal, and review films. This platform not only lets you do all those things but you can connect with other users and “friend” people. It is a social media platform for movie-lovers. It is also great for reading well thought and serious movie reviews before seeing a movie.

For me, it is hard to tell which web-based application I couldn’t live without. Although I am “plugged in” through many different platforms, there isn’t one I couldn’t stand not checking during my day. I think that is a good thing too.
