Film reviews and film criticism has been around far longer than the internet has been. Whether it be a column in the newspaper or a short spot on the local radio station, films were being talked about. However, with the rise of the internet, a flurry of film blogs and review sites came about. Reviewers all over the world were able to share their opinions with movie watchers all over the world.
Film is as popular right now as it has ever been, especially with the rise to prominence of the digital streaming services that allow people to watch their favorite movies and even new ones from their home. There are many blogs that movie watchers visit to catch up on movie news and read or listen to reviews on new movies. Some of these blogs have been around for quite some time, while others are just getting started.
Here are two blogs that I think are interesting and informative and every fan of film should check out.
Roger Ebert
rogerebert.com
Roger Ebert was a praised film reviewer who unfortunately passed away in 2013. He wrote reviews from 1967 until his death for the Chicago Sun-Times, as well as his now famous blog. Fortunately, Mr. Ebert’s blog is still as active as ever, operated by reviewers who were chosen by the man himself.

Ebert’s blog is one of my favorites because it is devoid of biased criticism. Although it is one of the most acclaimed film review sites, it is most commonly visited by avid fans of film. The reviews that are on this blog are simply about the presentation and story of the film rather than the politics that may be involved with the film. Also, all the reviews posted are in-depth and well written. I have a feeling others have been visiting this blog over the years for the same reason.
This blog can be found at rogerebert.com as well as Twitter and Facebook.
Geeks Of Color

Geeks of Color is a great film blog that was created in 2015 by a young content creator named Dorian Parks. The purpose of Geeks of Color is to provide news and focus on diversity within the film industry. Geeks of Color provides a different and fresh view of the entire industry as a whole which I think draws in readers.

Although Geeks of Color is a blog much more new compared to Roger Ebert’s long-running reviews, the content is informative as well as thought-provoking.
Geeks of Color can be found at geeksofcolor.co, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
